Dog

Top Best House Pets. The dog or domestic dog (Canis familiaris or Canis lupus familiaris) is a domesticated descendant of the wolf, and is characterized by an upturning tail. The dog is derived from an ancient, extinct wolf, and the modern wolf is the dog’s nearest living relative.

The dog was the first species to be domesticated, by hunter–gatherers over 15,000 years ago, before the development of agriculture. Due to their long association with humans, dogs have been bred for a wide variety of tasks.

Cats

The cat (Felis catus) is a domestic species of small carnivorous mammal. It is the only domesticated species in the family Felidae and is often referred to as the domestic cat to distinguish it from the wild members of the family. A cat can either be a house cat, a farm cat or a feral cat; the latter ranges freely and avoids human contact.

Domestic cats are valued by humans for companionship and their ability to kill rodents. About 60 cat breeds are recognized by various cat registries. …read more.

I love all animals, but I especially adore cats and dogs. I get so much joy out of watching them play and cuddle together.

Birds

Chickens might not be the first animal that comes to mind when you think of common household pets, but raising backyard chickens can be SUCH a great experience. If they are exposed to you and raised by you since being chicks, it is much more likely they will be less afraid of you and will be more open to interaction and cuddles 🙂

Yes, there are some chickens that will cuddle with you, which is super adorable. However, you must do your research in taking care of them to prevent attacks from predators such as foxes. Overall, chickens are adorable, clucking pets that will bring so much joy into your life.

Hamsters

I’ve had four Syrian hamsters as pets, and each one had their own personality – they made for great overall pets! It’s better to get them when they’re baby hamsters or younger so that they have a chance to get used to you earlier on.

Both females and males can be sweet, but females have a musky odor when they are ready for breeding. I would recommend a hamster for a responsible child or teen – someone who is willing to take on the responsibility of a pet. They are fairly low-maintenance and cost-effective pets. They are also smart and can be litter-trained. They make for very good pets once they are used to you and are also super fuzzy and cute!

Rabbits

Rabbits are small mammals in the family Leporidae of the order Lagomorpha. The European rabbit is the best-known species and is familiar as a wild prey animal, a domesticated form of livestock, and a pet. Rabbits are found on every continent except Antarctica.

Rabbits, bunnies, and bunny rabbits are all small mammals in the family Leporidae, which also contains hares. Oryctolagus cuniculus includes the European rabbit species and its descendants, while Sylvilagus includes 13 wild rabbit species.

The European rabbit is familiar worldwide as a wild prey animal and as a domesticated form of livestock or pet. With its wide range of colors, it is one of the most popular rabbits for breeding.

Lizards

My friend and I caught two small lizards. I forget what kind they are, but they are both males, indicated by the two brilliant blue spots on their necks. Sadly the younger one, Pal, died, but his brother and best friend, Buddy, is still alive. They make great pets and are very bonded with their owners if they have had a lot of attention from them as babies. If they are bonded well, they will ride on your shoulder all day!

Guinea Pigs

Guinea pigs are more like rats with better haircuts. All credit to them, they’ve got some serious style. Every guinea pig looks different, with some sporting a grubby teenager hairstyle and others opting for a responsible banking consultant’s cut. They’re just very amusing to look at, and that’s half the battle when you’re trying to find the right pet. Guinea pigs are entertaining, harmless and they’re cute. In summary, they make for very solid pets.
